Huntercombe Hospital Norwich

At Huntercombe Hospital Norwich, we treat young people aged 12 to 18 with a significant mental illness.

This service is a low secure service for young people who have long-standing, complex mental health issues to deal with. These young people need some time in a safe environment, with a high level of physical security.  Our team are experienced in a broad range of mental health problems and helping young people work through their issues.

Nearly all the young people in our care are dealing with more than one issue. The conditions we treat include: psychosis; emerging personality disorder; complex post-traumatic stress disorder; autism, ADHD; and mild learning difficulties. Some of our patients have been in trouble with the police.

We’ve created a caring, safe place for teenagers to stay while we support them in their recovery. We are experts in the field of adolescent mental illness and our specialist team have dedicated their working lives to improving the life chances of troubled young people.

This is not a one-size-fits-all hospital. We go to great efforts to design a care plan that suits you and your condition.

As soon as a young person is admitted, we carry out an assessment to work out what sort of care you will need. If appropriate, we will ask your family to help us get this right.

We also pay close attention to the non-medical parts of your life that are important, such as your education and your leisure time. There is the chance to take part in art, drama, music and sport.

What people say about us

Reviews of our approach and how we've helped our patients

Every person at Huntercombe has been amazing. The difference being they care, each one had a role to play in my daugher's recovery. They never once gave up on her. Thank you!

Patient's family

I've been getting better slowly and for the most part my hallucinations have stopped. I've been going out with friends more which is great. I'm also finishing my GCSEs so I can go to college.

Former patient

Thank you for everything you all did for me. I'm genuinely feeling so much better.
