The Huntercombe Services Murdostoun - Neurodisability Centre

Our new facility has 24 en-suite bedrooms, which uniquely includes three independent living flats with bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms and kitchen areas, where clients can continue to develop daily living skills before returning to their home.

There are several lounge areas, and a conservatory with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside.

About The Huntercombe Services Murdostoun - Neurodisability Centre

Our Neurodisability Centre offers tailored individual rehabilitation programmes for people with neurodisabilities including, but not limited to Acquired Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone disease, Huntington's Disease and Stroke.

Most people undergo a two week assessment, during which the neuropsychologist, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and nurses use standardised tests and measures to determine the level of their problems. People who are minimally conscious have a four week assessment.

The team meets with the client, their family and any other professionals involved in their care.  Their problems are discussed and goals are set and agreed with the client.  These goals determine the nature of the rehabilitation.

Following assessment a goal oriented rehabilitation plan and individual care plan will be developed in consultation with the client and family (as appropriate). Plans are regularly reviewed and updated to make sure the client’s needs continue to be met. Case review meetings are held to discuss progress and future needs.

The centre has a gymnasium where therapy and rehabilitation can take place. There is a rehabilitation kitchen and three independent living flats where rehabilitation programmes can also be carried out.

Activities

Time and leisure occupation are important features of rehabilitation and clients are encouraged to return to their previous activities, initially with support.
