Dundee nurses walk across hot coals to raise money for The Scottish Huntington’s Association
Posted May 20th 2013

To date the team have raised over £1000 after successfully completing The Scottish Huntington’s Association Red-Hot Firewalk challenge at The Landmark Hotel. This involved walking barefoot across 10 feet of red-hot wood embers, measuring around 668 degrees Celsius.

Their next challenge will be a parachute jump which two of their staff nurses will complete this summer. This will take place on Sunday 9th June at Errol Airfield, Perth.

All of the fundraising events are organised by The Scottish Huntington’s Association which provides invaluable support and advice to individuals with Huntington’s disease as well as their families and carers throughout Scotland.

Sue Beevers, from The Scottish Huntington’s Association said: “By challenging fundraisers to complete these daredevil activities we hope this will encourage people to dig deep into their pockets and support our worthwhile organisation. The money we raise is vital to help support those affected by the disease as well as their families and carers.

Suzanne Wilson, Centre Manager for Linlathen Neurodisability Centre commented: “The team and I are fully committed to raising as much money and awareness for The Scottish Huntington’s Association as possible. The organisation is extremely close to our hearts as our Bridgeview Unit is the only dedicated, specialist unit in Scotland for adults with Huntington’s disease.”
