The beauty room at Huntercombe Hospital Norwich may only be a few months old, but it’s already become the place to hang out for staff and the hospital’s young patients.
Offering the same kind of services as a high street beauty salon, Huntercombe Hospital Norwich’s beauty room has all the styling equipment needed to wash, blow dry, straighten and dye hair. There’s also a nail bar with every colour of varnish available and makeup kits for the young people to try and experiment with. It’s the place to be!
Members of staff are always available to help where needed, but the young patients are encouraged to treat themselves and one another. One staff member recently became trained in camouflage makeup techniques to help those who’ve suffered with self-harm, scarring and acne.
Every young patient uses the beauty room differently; some come in every day to get their hair done, others only use it before doctor’s appointments. Staff have commented that patients love it and have noticed the positive impact it has made on their self-esteem.
