Masquerade ball kicks off summer with style at Stafford

To celebrate the end of the school year, patients at Huntercombe Hospital Stafford attended the Masquerade Ball.

Young people from across Huntercombe Hospital in Stafford put on their masks, dressed up in their party outfits, and stepped into their transformed classrooms.

Students enjoyed an interactive quiz based on the TV show The Cube, party food, a balloon popping game, a photo booth complete with dressing up box, prizes for the best dressed and a best dancer competitions. Highlight of the evening was a conga line that took the students and staff all around the building.

Carol Harvey, head teacher at Huntercombe Hospital explained the importance of marking the end of the year with a ball as many of her students “miss their own school proms and we recognise how important it is to young people.”

The summer ball took six weeks to plan and involved all the students who baked cakes and made decorations. Staff members made sure that each young person had a party gift to take home and blew up more than a 100 balloons, downloaded each student’s favourite song for the disco, and donated money as prizes for the games. The classroom make-over, alone, took nearly five hours.
