Granville Lodge in Hartlepool is a specialist residential and short break service for young people with complex life-long health conditions.
At Granville Lodge, we look after children and young people who cannot be cared for at home, most commonly because they need a high level of skilled care.
What we do
We believe Granville Lodge is a special place. It is purposely small, just nine beds, and is located in an adapted Victorian house in a quiet residential street in Hartlepool. Whilst the children staying with us have clinical needs, we have taken great care to ensure our centre still feels like a family home. Children staying with us permanently can decorate their own rooms, just as they can at home, and we encourage our young people, wherever possible, to be part of the running of their home and to try out new experiences.
We organise plenty of trips out so that our young people can enjoy all the usual fun family activities on offer. Popular choices are Butterfly World and the Alan Shearer Centre. We also offer short-breaks for young people who normally live at home with their families.
We believe we give our children a level of personal caring support not matched elsewhere. We are also ambitious for the young people we look after. We believe in each and every one of them and their potential to live a better life.
Conditions we manage
We care for both boys and girls under the age of 18 who have been diagnosed with a:
- Complex long-term condition such as epilepsy, cerebral palsy or hydrocephalus and who may have other health care needs, for example tracheostomy care or PEG feeding
- Profound learning disability or a combination of both a physical and learning disability
