Hothfield Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre

At our specialist centre in Kent, we look after adults with a brain injury or other neurological condition.

Set within the 12 acre grounds of a manor house, we specialise in intensive rehabilitation for people in the early stages of recovery from a brain injury right through to residential care.

Age range: adults over the age of 18 years.

What we do

There are two inter-connecting buildings on our Hothfield site:  the original manor house and a separate purpose-built building.

Our on-site Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) includes nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, clinical psychology and rehabilitation assistants. The team is further supported by weekly sessional visits from a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine.

Our clinical team is further supported by a centre manager, an activity co-ordinator and a team of housekeeping, catering, maintenance and administration staff.

Our Multi-Disciplinary Team work together to ensure that every team member is working towards the same practical, realistic goals and that all therapies are focused on the areas that will enable patients to achieve those clearly defined and agreed goals.

The setting for our neurorehabilitation service is a purpose-built unit.  We offer active, short-term rehabilitation for people who have significant speech, functional or cognitive needs. Individuals each have personal rehabilitation goals and we work to a structured therapy programme to help them relearn and practise everyday skills to give them the best chance of a return home.

Located in the original manor house, this service is for people who, as a result of their brain injury or neurological condition, are not able to live at home independently.  Whilst they may not have complex nursing care needs or require regular therapy, they do need round the clock support to manage everyday tasks, to keep safe and to have a good quality of life.

At the very beginning, one of mum’s friends told us that we needed to put all of our weight behind getting her into rehab with you guys as you were the best.  She wasn’t lying! On behalf of my whole family, thank you so much for everything you have done for her.  You really are…

You are truly an amazing team

To all the staff at Hothfield, thank you for everything you have done for my brother during his time with you.  All he’s ever wanted to do is to ‘go home’ and with your tireless care and support that wish has become a reality. Thank you for the photos, videos and messages that have helped…

All departments are excellent

I stayed here for about eight weeks. All departments are excellent. Nurses, management staff brilliant and friendly. Top to bottom.  OT and Physiotherapy departments are SUPERB!

This is just a little card but a great big thank you

To all the wonderful staff, nurses, doctors and therapists who looked after him.  You all looked after him so well.  This is just a little card but a great big thank you for all you did whilst he was with you, a good few ups and down but you showed him… He has settled down…

I will be eternally grateful

It was such a relief to know how he was always loved and well cared for at Hothfield and I cannot thank you and the team enough for your kindness.  I will be eternally grateful.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart

To the receptionist, kitchen staff and all other staff that made my day yesterday so fantastic.  A very special day with my family and a day that I shall cherish. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Thank you all so much.
