Nottingham Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre

At Nottingham Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre , we offer rehabilitation, care and support to people with a brain injury or other neurological condition.

Located in Hucknall on the outskirts of Nottingham, we specialise in the treatment, care and support of individuals with physical and cognitive impairments as a result of brain injury or other progressive neurological condition.

Age range: Individuals over the age of 18 years.

What we do

There are three interconnecting units on our Nottingham site:  Millwood, Fernwood and Rosewood.

With our three distinct, yet complementary services on one site, we offer flexible care options from our specialist on-site team.

Our clinical team is highly trained in the rehabilitation and care of adults with brain injuries and other neurological conditions.  The team is headed by Kelly Cox, Centre Manager and Michael Jones, Head of Therapy and Occupational Therapist. They are supported by a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) including a Clinical Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Specialist Nurses, Rehabilitation Assistants and Activities Co-ordinators.

Dr Mary Antoun, Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine from Linden Lodge Neurorehabilitation Unit at City Hospital provides additional sessional support.

Our clinical team is supported by three unit managers,  activity therapists and a team of housekeeping, catering, maintenance and administration staff.

This service is for people who have already undergone rehabilitation and still require further therapy to reach their optimum level of recovery. It is also suitable for those who would find an intensive programme of care fatiguing and would make better progress on a longer less therapy-intensive programme. We provide a range of rehabilitation therapies to help people relearn and practice everyday skills to give them the best chance of a return home.

Fernwood is our high dependency service where we look after people with particularly complex nursing care needs.  Residents may, for example, have tracheostomies, require assisted ventilation or may be minimally conscious.  we also care for individuals who may be in the end stage of a progressive neurological illness.

This service is suitable for people who, as a result of their brain injury, are unable to live at home independently usually because of the high level of nursing care they need. This service is also suitable for those who do not have complex nursing needs or require regular therapy, but still need round the clock support to manage everyday tasks, to keep safe and to have a good quality of life.

You believed in him when others may have given up

It doesn’t feel right having to do this over email but we couldn’t let him leave without telling you how thankful we are for everything that you have done. You believed in him when others may have given up and the progress that he has made because of that is more than we could have…

Cannot thank you enough

Us as a family cannot thank you and the team for helping our lovely mum enough. Mum will be in touch in the near future herself to thank you all too so take care and keep safe.

Thank you for everything you do for the residents. It really is very much appreciated

Delicious food for vegans

As a vegan I always struggle to eat out, however since being admitted to Millwood the food has scored 10/10.  It’s delicious and the kitchen staff came to meet with me on day one and have made me feel welcome.

They deeply care about the residents

I wanted to tell you how caring all the Millwood team are and helpful. They are all so nice and deeply care about the residents and this comes across.  It is a pleasure working with the Millwood team so thank you!

I have enjoyed the lovely dinners
