Frenchay BIRU was recently inspected by INPA, the Independent Neurorehabilitation Providers Alliance.  INPA are a group of independent specialist health and social care providers who share the common goal of ensuring the delivery of excellent care in neurorehabilitation.

Inspectors who visited on 21 March 2019 were satisfied that the brain injury centre in Bristol met INPA’s set criteria and minimum standards.     Following the visit, the inspector from INPA commented:

“BIRU is a respected Level 1 provider of specialist inpatient rehabilitation.  Processes are clearly defined and implemented to ensure a co-ordinated patient pathway.  Staff are well trained and their specialist skills are called upon to provide training externally.  The unit plays a key role in developing rehab staff of the future with their “grow their own nurse” scheme and provision of student placements. Local funders recognise the very good outcomes achieved by the unit”
