Huntercombe Nottingham involved in clinical trials with University of Derby

Posted / 15 February 2020

Huntercombe Nottingham have further expanded their links with the University of Derby through clinical trials of the Emego EMG switch.

The Emego is an approved class 1 medical device designed to detect the smallest of muscle movements, using EMG technology to wirelessly trigger assistive technology equipment. The focus of this current research with our consultant in rehabilitation medicine and members of the therapy team is how this technology can be repurposed to assist with spasticity management to inform Botox injection sites by providing objective measurement of muscle activity and therefore clinical reasoning behind injecting. This technology would also provide objective measurements of muscle activity before and after Botox injection providing outcome measure data.
