Maidenhead students raise money for Macmillan
Young people from across our four wards at Huntercombe Hospital Maidenhead hosted their own Macmillan Coffee Morning on 24 September 2021. They not only planned the entire event, but also created posters in art to promote the event and spent hours baking with our Education staff and Youth Education Practitioners. On the day our young people helped to decorate the two classrooms: one in the Manor and other in the Two Rivers classroom on our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Some of our young people provided a musical performance.
This year Macmillan provided individual QR codes which helped us to raise more money than we have in previous years – nobody seems to have cash now! By being able to donate directly to MacMillan we were able to see our running total during the morning and it was exciting to watch the amount of donations grow. In total we raised £107.83 for Macmillan and our young people have gained some valuable work experience and life skills too.
