New Family Support Group at Huntercombe Nottingham

Posted / 27 February 2020

Our Nottingham Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre have recently changed the format of their Family Support Group for families of residents at the centre.    The group is now overseen by our psychologists in conjunction with the University of Derby, whose principal research interests lie in how families are affected by head injury.

Our sessions run monthly and offer education, advice, signposting and guest speakers from different disciplines involved in care and rehabilitation for individuals with brain injury and neurological conditions. Most importantly, this has provided our residents’ families with a peer support network of families with relatives at different stages in their recovery journey, which has proven extremely beneficial for emotional support for family members.
